Remember websites? Yeah, those were cool. Remember the web before standardized social platforms of today's infinite scroll?
Hold your horses and various other livestock. The Underground Cafe isn't rebooting, but its wesite-looking things are getting... re-shoed?
This was my second favorite* website to constantly refresh back in the two-thous-ANDs waiting for updates, news, photos, laughs. This is a tribute to a friend's work to provide the best third place (tm) of the midwestern area, bring in all kinds of bands, give students, young persons (and young persons trapped in adult-like bodies) a place to be their own selves, make friends, make music, have laughs, and break from everyday life.
This is a hack at my old web 2.0 coding chops on a new platform for fun. Stuff I studied and slopped together back when dialup was disappearing to DSL and wifi was unwinding us from workstations.
So no, the Underground isn't back. Before you start throwing Nokia 3310s, Razrs and all manner of studded Hello Kitty accessories at your screen, let me offer this as a cop-out:
- Revisit bands that played the underground on our Links page.
*my first favorite webpage of the 2000s is listed there. - Mouse around and see what other links work!
